Earth Day is less than a few hours away.....

What are your plans for Earth Day 2011?

Tomorrow is Earth Day. Are you planting a tree? Participating in roadside cleanup? Whatever good dead you do tomorrow end the day on a bit of fun with grill lean steak or a juicy burger on the grill. What better way to spend  time outdoors with your family/family while supporting an environmentally-friendly industry.
As a MBA Graduate I had access to Earth Day letter templates for proactively talking with the newspaper, radio and/or TV. Here is an example of what you can use to promote the beef industry this Earth Day. Check back tomorrow and I will have my own letter posted.

Dear Editor:

There are many ways to be “green.” The steps my family and I take to improve the environment aren’t new; like Earth Day, they have been around for decades. We’ve reduced, recycled and reused for years. That’s why I take pride in being an everyday environmentalist while raising the beef that feeds America.

Farmers and ranchers use a variety of environmentally-friendly practices, and they’re often as unique as the areas where cattle are raised. Cattle are raised in every state in the nation, in nearly every type of climate and geography. We adapt to be “green” no matter where we’re at. At my [FARM or RANCH] that means [LIST ONE OR TWO ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES].

Our [FARM or RANCH] has been in my family for [XX] years and we’re planning to pass it on to the next generation in better condition than we received it. As short-term tenants of this land, it’s our job to ensure the future of our natural resources. If we all do our part, we can save the Earth for this generation and many to come.

This Earth Day, do something good for your health and good for the health of the planet by celebrating with a juicy, lean steak (there are 29 different options, including filet mignon, T-bone steak and top sirloin). You’ll be supporting [STATE]’s farmers and ranchers, who get up every day to take care of the land and produce the food we so often take for granted.

Happy Earth Day.
