A Wisconsin Holiday....

Last week I left you with a famous song that is played on the radio over and over again throughout the opening weekend of deer hunting and even gave you a little background of what goes on. Growing up deer hunting season was and still is a big deal. I remember in high school if you brought in your hunting registration and tag number it was an excused absence, can you believe it?! Why wasn't a shopping spree even considered excused!!!

My Grandpa Lindsay is one of the biggest hunters of them all. Annually, he and his buddies venture out in the early morning of the third Saturday in November in hopes of shooting the big buck. Throughout the weekend, local bars are packed in the evenings with guys in neon orange telling the "hunting stories" of how they almost & were sooo close. Often times making a plan of attack with their buddies for the next morning. And if you happen to shoot a deer, well then you load it up in the back of your pick up and make a drive through town to show off and register for the biggest buck contest!

Grandpa came down to our place in his old pick up opening morning to announce he shot his deer for the year! Luckily it was already hanging so I didn't have to walk outside in my PJs and slippers and act all impressed:)
Here he is in all his glory! We celebrated Grandpa's 80th birthday a couple years ago, so...
I'd say he's doing pretty good for hunting each year and bringing home a deer!
